GRACE LIGHTMAN ZERO IMPACT

Grace Lightman’s latest single ‘Zero Impact’ refutes its title from the start, as a full, gritty bass fills the soundscape contrasting with the delicate, yet powerful, voice of Lightman. Describing herself as “one part ABBA, two parts Twin Peaks”, there is also a noticeable undercurrent of influence from Röyksopp. Of the video, which gives off a dystopic feeling sitting alongside the loneliness the lyrics convey (all the while centring on a roller-skating team), Lightman says “this video was an exploration of the world we had all created together based on a dystopia inspired by Science Fiction from the 70s and 80s. Using Edwin Burdis’ intuitive artistic process on one end of the spectrum, versus Alex Lightman’s narrative feature film background - the outcome resulted in an exploration of these oppositions with my other worldly alter ego, the Silver Eater, finding her place amongst the roller derby team”. -Dan Peeke
